The First Responder’s Rodeo is not just about cowboy boots and broncos — it’s about giving back, with heart (and a whole lot of horsepower). With every buck and barrel race, our rodeo ropes in funds and awareness for two amazing causes: the Missing Children Society of Canada and Calgary’s own Children’s Cottage Society. Thanks to last year’s wild ride, $30,000 was handed over to these organizations. This year, the rodeo crew is aiming to top that! It’s community spirit, charity, and a little rodeo magic all rolled into one.

Missing Children Society of Canada
The Missing Children Society of Canada (MCSC), established in 1986 and headquartered in Calgary, is a non-profit organization dedicated to locating and supporting missing children and their families across Canada. MCSC collaborates closely with law enforcement agencies, including the RCMP, to investigate cases of abductions, disappearances, and endangered youth. The organization utilizes advanced technology, such as the MCSC rescu app, to disseminate real-time information and engage the public in search efforts. Beyond investigative support, MCSC offers comprehensive family assistance, providing resources and guidance to help families navigate the emotional and logistical challenges associated with a missing child. Recognized internationally, MCSC represents Canada in the Global Missing Children’s Network, working alongside agencies from over 30 countries to share knowledge and improve child protection efforts worldwide.

Children's Cottage Society
The Children’s Cottage Society, established in 1986 and based in Calgary, Alberta, is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting families and children facing crisis or adversity. Their services encompass a range of programs aimed at enhancing family resilience and child development. These include a 24-hour Crisis Nursery offering short-term child care, the HomeLinks program providing housing support and financial assistance, and the Family Resource Network which connects families to community resources and parenting support. The organization also operates a new 35,000 square foot Child & Family Centre, which houses therapeutic child development programs, mental health services, and Indigenous family supports. Additionally, the Children’s Cottage Society offers Hope’s Cradle, a safe surrender site for infants, and is committed to reconciliation efforts with Indigenous communities.
